Spring Decorating Ideas for 2021

There is no better time for a room refresh than in the spring. Now that everything is clean and organized from your seasonal cleaning, it’s the perfect opportunity to spruce your space up with spring decor. Renew the different rooms in your home with these decorating ideas, drawing inspiration from the year’s hottest décor trends.

Here are five spring decorating ideas for 2021:

  1. Play with pastels

Spring beckons a softness after a cold winter and before the heat of summer. Pastels embody this feeling and make everything light and airy. Although millennial blush continues to be a trendy color, any pastel that you feel connected to will do. Freshen up any room by adding pastels in the form of throw pillows, artwork, decorative pieces, or even with a new wall color.

  1. Amp up your neutrals with a pop of color

If pastels aren’t your thing, you can turn your focus to the bold colors found in nature this time of year. Place a vibrant new accent chair or another accent piece in a neutral room to add that pop of color. You can take your cue from spring flowers, like the pink or blue of hyacinths, the purple of an iris, or the yellow of a daffodil. Illuminating is one of Pantone’s® Colors of the Year. It is a bright, sunny yellow which will also transition into summer.

  1. Incorporate more florals, plants, and natural elements

It’s a no-brainer to bring more of the outside inside during spring. As trees begin to bud and plants start to grow, you can match the emerging shades of green outside by incorporating fresh flowers and ferns inside. Indoor plants are another one of the top décor trends in 2021. For a fresh look, you can hang new shelves on a wall, add vases, and fill them with plants and flowers. If you don’t have a green thumb, you can go faux, but maybe even add in a few real ones just to keep everyone guessing.

  1. Go Boho

Boho-inspired décor can also update your room for spring. The colors, patterns, and fun textures of the Boho style seamlessly go from spring to summer. To add some Boho style to your home, you can look for a bright, patterned rug with tassels or even some patterned vases featuring spring colors and textures. Consider upgrading your outdoor furniture to wicker or rattan sets with colorful cushions if you have a patio or deck.

  1. Upcycle older pieces

Upcycling means taking an item, enhancing it, and giving it a new life instead of throwing it away. Perhaps during your spring cleaning, you identified an accent piece like a console table or chest that would look good as new with a fresh stain. Even a fireplace can be upcycled with a new coat of paint like white or cream. Then, you can decorate the top of the table or the mantel with plenty of spring trinkets and vases with fresh flowers or ferns.

Whether you’re adding more greenery or flowers, taking your style from Modern to Boho, or upcycling an old piece of furniture, there are plenty of ways you can incorporate the 2021 spring decorating trends in your home.
