How to Refresh Your Home Decor With What You Already Have

Since you’ve been spending more time at home, you may have noticed some things you do (and do not) like regarding your home decor. Instead of ordering a bunch of new accessories and decorations online, take a look at what you have lying around. Revamping your home doesn’t have to be complicated or come with a hefty price tag. Here are six ways you can refresh your home decor with what you already have.

Find your leftover paint.
It’s no secret that a fresh coat of paint can completely change the appearance of your home. And after any painting project, there’s usually plenty of paint leftover and stored away. Whip that out and find something to update! Whether you choose to update your interior walls or the exterior of your home, paint is transformative and refreshing. If you don’t want to repaint an entire room, paint a bookshelf to breathe new life in the room, or stain your dining room table to change the look. No matter how big or small the project is, you’ll be sure to notice a difference.

Rethink your layout.
If you’ve found yourself with extra time on your hands, consider rearranging your furniture. You can plan a whole new layout with your existing furniture and transform the flow of the space. The best part about rearranging furniture is that it is entirely free! Take note of the focal point in the room and go from there. Keep in mind; your furniture doesn’t have to be up against the wall. So if yours is, start with pulling your pieces away.

Upholster your furniture.
If you like the flow of your space but are getting sick of the way it looks, update the furniture. Updating your furniture does not mean throwing everything away and getting new items. A fun way you can refresh your furniture is by upholstering it. For example, you can add a fun pattern to the seat cushion of an everyday chair. Use fabric from old bed sheets or clothes that you love but no longer use or wear.

Update your window treatments.
Natural lighting is an organic way to boost the mood in any room. Soak up that Vitamin D and let sunlight pour in with the proper window treatments. Swap heavy drapes with sheer curtains or hang a valance that complements the rest of the home. If your curtains have been drawn for some time, merely pulling them aside can make a noticeable difference. Tie them with ribbon or twine or even a hair scrunchie you have lying around the house.

Replace your hardware.
The hardware on your cabinets, doors, and drawers suffer from a lot of wear and tear. Replace your doorknobs, cabinet pulls, and drawer handles with brand new styles. Brass is on-trend right now and complements both warm and cool color palettes.

Change your bedding.
Your bedding is the centerpiece of your bedroom and enhances the room’s style and design. With summer quickly approaching, opt for a comforter or duvet that is lightweight and full of color. If you want to spice it up even further, choose bedding with a mix of different patterns and textures.
